Attitude – What is it and why is it so important?

Webster’s dictionary describes ATTITUDE a couple of different ways.

  1. – manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind
  2. – position or posture of the body appropriate to or expressive of an action, emotion, etc.:

This may seem like a bunch of gobbly goop, but what it really means is “The way a person reacts emotionally to any situation”.

This is very important in the school setting.  Because a lot of things can go on throughout the day that can get a student (or a teacher) in a bad mood and make life miserable for everybody around them.  That’s no way to live!!!  It’s important to keep a good ATTITUDE throughout the day, no matter what happens.  I’m not suggesting that if your dog dies or you get some other tragic news, that you need to keep a smile on your face.  But, day to day activities should be taken in stride and dealt with in a positive manner with little bounce in your step.

Having a great attitude makes for a harmonious school.  It simply makes the school better.

In my next blog, I’ll be going over a number of ways to show a good attitude at school.  Click here to see it.
